Since taking out a licence to train in 1994, Ed Dunlop has enjoyed success at the highest level of racing from his Newmarket-based yard. Within two years, he had achieved Classic success thanks to Ta Rib in the Group 1 French 1,000 Guineas. There were more victories at the top level with Fraulein, Night Style and Lailani. But it is fair to say Ed’s greatest triumphs have been provided by the brilliant filly Ouija Board, who landed six Group 1 races including the English and Irish Oaks, two Breeders’ Cup victories, a Hong Kong Vase and the Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot. She won the Cartier Award for Champion Older Horse and Horse of the Year in 2006. In 2010 Snow Fairy completed another English and Irish Oaks double for Ed and went on to win the Hong Kong Cup and completed back-to-back wins in the QEII Commerative Cup in Japan in 2010 and 2011. She was voted Cartier Champion Three-Year-Old Filly of 2010.
